I am so excited to be a part and only 10 days to go.
Fleurage is offering its divine perfumery space for Fanantique to hold their Vintage Spring Fashion showing in preparation for the Spring Racing Carnival. An invitation only afternoon of gorgeous vintage frocks and gowns, stunning hats, and all the trimmings including the all important fragrance choice.
Anne Shoebridge is the Milliner of the day.
Her pieces are both pretty and elegant, sophisticated and fun, without being too tizzy and never ridiculous. The creations I have previewed so far are a fabulous investment for the races and could be worn over and over to great effect. I have my eye on a couple already.
I have also been lucky enough to see the fabulous fashion pieces Liz has got in for this event. They are all to die for and completely one-off items. They are not all tiny either. Many are made for women with a 'bit more' and Liz tries her hardest to get them as often as she can. So many beautiful things. ( insert a swoony sigh here )
This show is in the spirit of the old couturiers and the gals will be floating amongst the crowd as we all sip champagne and are treated to divine harp music and our very own jazz singer. Each outfit will be a complete ensemble of dress, hat, accessories, jewelry and a specially matched perfume from the Fleurage range.
I adore this kind of project.
Any event devoted to sartorial splendor and all of its glamorous trimmings deserves contribution from other dedicated purveyors of style. I am honored to be able to contribute my perfumery and add to the event with my fragrances.
I must say right here though that the media are such a dull bunch of celebrity chasers that most dont even want to know about it. ( and I say most not all and we are forever grateful to those who do take an interest ) I mean this is a beautiful story in its own right. Here we are, a group of talented and gorgeous female entrepreneurs whose aim is to recover a bit of style and glamor in our everyday, and we are making it happen. Right under everyone's noses. No interest from major publications, but we just continue on doing what we do with our loyal followers. I often shake my head that there is little or no interest in what we are doing from the people whose job it is to report such things. We often laugh about the fact it takes five long years of hard slog for a business to be an overnight success in the media.
Well pooh to them I say!
Their loss, and they are truly missing the boat on this.
There is huge market for the pursuit of a beautiful life. People genuinely want quality and workmanship with attention to details and style but they don't often know where to find it. There is a reason that any book about Grace Kelly walks off the shelves. Women still sigh and swoon at the hollywood silver screen musicals and blockbusters and they still get weak at the knees over beautiful vintage anything. We don't like being a 'secret' and it would be nice to see some exposure for those of us doing things a little bit differently so people can have a little piece of the magic we create.
So on Sunday September 19th the Perfumery is closed unless you have an invite, and if you do, you will be met at the door by a dashing dandy, welcomed at the perfumery entrance and have your coat taken by another handsome chap and a gorgeous Fleurage gal . You will be given a program of the afternoon, a small gift bag and glass of bubbly. I will show you around and then feel free to mingle with the other refined guests, look at products, enter into the fabulous door prizes and enjoy an afternoon of civilized delights.
If you are desperate to be a part then you will need to contact Liz at Fanantique for an invite.
I hope to see you there.
Cheers
The Baroness
