Is it time for some new products?

It would appear my muse has woken early this year. My creative heart says spring is here and it time to start new perfumery projects. Its grey and cold outside and threatening rain but my spirit is restless. It must be the approaching birthday excitement that has stirred the passions. (For those who don't know my day of new year starts on the last day of our winter.) I have several scent projects already bubbling away in the brain and it is nearly time to sit down at the desk and make them a reality. Which to do first?

I can't decide between finishing the set of Bohemian Chic perfumes, adding to the Florals, or developing the new Bridal Range. I could bottle my selection of oil parfums or get working on the formulas for the rest of my Perfume Collections. What to do, what to do. My concern is that in this state I am likely to start each option and get halfway in and decide to switch over to the next. This would be a disastrous outcome so I must choose carefully and remain disciplined.

All perfumery requires discipline.

I am not downplaying the creative expansion required but emphasizing it MUST be tempered with the discipline of planning and seeing through each stage to its completion before moving on to the next.

While I am on the subject of new projects and planning I know there are people out there reading this who work for companies who still do gifting to employees and clients for Christmas. Can I ask that you all forward the Fleurage website or contact details to the relevant person and encourage them to investigate our gifting ideas for valuable clients and employees this year??? I have seen some really poor gifts come out of highly reputable companies and it makes me shake my head. They are tacky and trashy and look rushed to the point I don't even know why they bothered.

I know there is a favorite expression(excuse) for poor gift choices- "Its the thought that counts". Well I say rubbish to that.

The thought doesn't count at all if it appears you put no thought into it at all.

I am aware this may breach a blog readers trust by looking like shameless promotion and advertising but its really more of a plea. I wish to restore the lost art of gifting.

We give gifts to say "thankyou" and "I value you and would like to be a memorable part of your life". How does a crappy cup or keyring with the work logo on it convey this? Employees work at their company every day. Do they really need a reminder of that in a 'gift'? Clients are different of course BUT if it has your logo or brand on it, and it is of little, or dubious, value, then what does that say firstly about your brand and secondly about how you value the client? 'Token' gifts given for the sake of show should be banned. Either give a gift with sincerity, integrity and enthusiasm or don't bother. You are not fooling anyone.

Fleurage has a comprehensive list of gifting ideas and options for personalized lines and would love to see someone invest in a little luxury and pleasure for their valuable people.

Now back to projects. What to do what to do.

It has been a gloomy winter and this last week has really got me down. The terrible news about my friend, the depressed economy-especially in the retail sector- and the horrifying possibility that our new leader of the country could be a man who has some serious 'issues'. I visibly shudder at the prospect of a Tony Abbott PM. As a childless, unmarried, woman in business he threatens all I have and hope to achieve in my life. I have said it before and I will say it again I would consider leaving the country a viable alternative to suffering under his regime.

And so today I NEED to pursue something fun, light, sparkly and liberating.

I think it will have to be a completely new range.

To the scent library............

Cheers
