Feminism be damned!
I am cleaning out my wardrobe this week and ditching all my slobby, teenage boy clothes and replacing them with more siren glam my darlings. My reliance on jeans, tracksuits, 'comfy' wear and sensible shoes is shameful. I have been easing them out for a while now but its time to openly admit I like looking like a woman, a female, and playing it up. More bling, more silks and velvets, more heels, more sexy beauty I say. Lingerie, evening wear, one offs, detail, finish, think pinup movie star gorgeousness. Think gloves, hats, shoes, scarves, handbags.
"but what about when you are lounging around the house" I hear you cry
"Silk lounging pyjamas" is my reply.

I will do housework in simple black tailored pants and a cashmere sweater, I will garden in black leggings and a blousy cotton shirt and ballet flats and I will accessorize and always do my hair everyday and wear lipstick. All because it makes me feel good
Why does equality have to equate with being able to dress like a boy??? It just doesnt work for me. I was made for showing it off not dulling it down. Where is the style and grace in a big baggy cardy and a pair of slippers? Certainly not to found on my body. For me comfy equals frump.
All power to those who have found their true selves in t-shirts and cargos, who adore thongs, singlets and sweats with sneakers and low slung jeans. But I look utterly dreadful in these clothes. I look like a wanna-be and am constantly uncomfortable but do it because its perfectly acceptable and anonymous.
I will no longer be ashamed to 'dress it up' for any kind of outing and will smile serenely at the snickering and openmouthed stares knowing that I look truly fabulous and am being true to my self. I find no dignity in 'letting yourself go' and pretending its who you are and your right to look awful. How can we ever be our best if we dont take time to live it? Find out who you really are and be it I say, and being it means looking it too.
