Chypre
A sophisticated blending typified by its warmth and dryness combined with green, leather and sometimes sweet notes. Many masculine fragrances are based on a chypre. The structure is based upon mosses, citrus, woods, herbs and subtle florals.
Animalic Chypre has a bolder rich sweet scent of animal tones; – try Chypre.
Leather Chypre is a combination of smoky woods and earth; – try Covet.
Sweet Chypre a masculine animalic combination of sweet and wood notes; – try Himbo, Dandy Boheme.
Floral Chypre is a dry sweet floral; – try Poeticus.
Fruity Chypre contains sweet notes with citrus and fruits over the top; – try Such a Boy.
Green Chypre is a sharper zesty herbal citrus over earth; – try Scream.
Fougere
Sometimes used as a category in combination with chypre the dominating scents are green and woody like forests and fresh foliage and herbal florals. Quite often used exclusively for men’s fragrances we believe women are just as attracted to the range. The structure is fresh and aromatic notes of mosses, herbs, green woods, lavender, and some citrus.
Leather Fougere a combination of spice and sweet notes over dry smoky woods; – try Mabon or Pout.
Wood Fougere dry warm wood notes with a touch of forest green; – try Paprika or Dryad.
Spicy Fougere warm dry aromatics with a hint of fresh green; – try Salamander or Saffron Fields.
Floral Fougere sweeter green florals with smoky woods; – try Murmur, Passion, Pout.
Fresh Fougere clear green woods herbs and citrus; – try Imp or Fleurage Origins.
Green Fougere sweet leafy herbs and herbal florals; – try Mint Julep.
Floral
The largest of the categories and usually associated with feminine perfumes but florals are utilised in many ways and are actually a component of most fragrances for the balance and subtle sweetness they offer. The structure of what are considered floral fragrances are accords of single florals and bouquets combined with other facets but the dominating aroma is that of the garden or florist.
True Floral is a clear shining sweet floral scent; – try White Flowers, Cherubim, Gardenia Magnifica, Damascena.
Sweet Floral are powdery rose based sweet florals; – try Pink, Blush, Seraphim.
Woody Floral are clear floral notes over a wood or amber base; – try Consort or Bimbette.
Green Floral have dominant flower notes with a leafy aspect; – try Grandiflora.
Fruity Floral fruit and sherbert notes combined with fresh sweet florals; – try Flirtish, Nymph, or Sylph.
Fresh Floral herbaceous and grassy notes with flowers; – try Equinox.
Oriental
The classic category and most misunderstood. Usually perceived as heavy and sickly, true orientals are in fact rich and bold and steeped in the sensuality of resins, woods, exotic florals and spices. They can be reminiscent of incense wafting through temples and warm tropical nights or conjure dreams of exotic eastern lands and sensual adventures of the heart.
Floriental the floral orientals of clear exotic florals over a woody base; – try Red, Siren, Solstice and Temple Flower.
Fruity Floriental with spicy notes of plums and berries; – try Seshen.
Sweet Oriental are notes of vanilla with soft florals and spices; – try Lilliacea Bleu, Vanilla Chai, Turkish Delight.
Spicy Oriental have the dominant notes of cinnamon and cloves over warm woods; – try Gypsy, Cinnamon Stick.
Animalic Oriental rich and sensual sweet woods and soft spices; – try Chaperone.
Resin Oriental incense based notes with spicy and fruity tones; – try Yuletide.
