Fragrance Design

The steps in perfume formulation

Initial Contact

Non Disclosure Agreement

Before we discuss your project we send an NDA.

We understand the need for secrecy and offer this as our standard practice.

Initial Discussion

We discuss your idea and establish the scope of the project.

From here we can tailor our service to fit your needs and issue a costing and contract.

The Brief

Your Vision

You send us your project vision. What you need it to do. What you need it to evoke.

See the fragrance design brief page here.

DO NOT USE OTHER COMMERCIAL PERFUMES AS EXAMPLES OR GUIDES.

We will not accept this kind of guidance.

Engagement

Contract

We set out the project scope in the contract for mutual agreement.

Contracts are valid for three months from the date of issue.

Payment

Terms of payment are 100% prior to work commencing.

There is no contract without payment.

Samples

Initial Drafts

Samples are produced for each scent design with adjustment rounds as specified in the contract.

From the first set the client picks one or two designs for refinement.

The client gives feedback on these as per our Feedback Form.

Refinement

We then adjust and refine rounds of samples.

If your brief is thorough and focused there should be no need for extra rounds.

Sign off

Sample Selected

The client nominates in writing the sample that fulfils the brief. A draft of the fragrance is approved and signed over to the client.

A client needs to be able to identify and commit to a final outcome or we will nominate as per the Feedback Form.

Handover

Documentation of formula and suppliers for you to control production

Documentation

What you get

The Formula

The formula is presented as a tabled list of each ingredient as its common compound name, the supplier, the supplier address and the percentage used as part of a concentrate.

Full details for you to produce the fragrance for as long as you like.

This is the exact information we would use for manufacture.

Suppliers

Along with the formula ingredient’s name we detail the suppliers who provided the exact ingredients that went into composing your design.

This enables you to move directly to production.

Safety Data

Copies of any and all available relevant safety information regarding each ingredient as per your contract.

A fragrance concentrate safety information form for MSDS use. This may be required for transport and regulators.

Reference Samples

You receive sample vials of each individual fragrance ingredient as used in the formula and a sample vial of the final mixed scent concentrate.

This is supplied for reference for the client and third party formulators.

Your manufacturer needs to know what to do with all information handed over. Fleurage do not advise on this part of the process. What we supply is the information we would use to manufacture.
